Brand new Daphne du Maurier editions as Virago Modern Classics
One of the best loved authors on the Virago Modern Classics list, Daphne du Maurier needs no introduction. This May, we’re adding three beautiful new paperback editions of her books to our collection, with more to come in July and October. If you know du Maurier from Rebecca, these new editions are the perfect way to discover more of her haunting stories.
Her debut novel The Loving Spirit, is set in Daphne du Maurier’s beloved Cornwall in the 1900s. Plyn Boat Yard is a hive of activity, and Janet Coombe longs to share in the excitement of seafaring: to travel, to have adventures, to know freedom. But constrained by the times, instead she marries her cousin Thomas, a boat builder, and settles down to raise a family.
The House on the Strand interweaves past and present together in a novel that is as rich and imaginative as anything she ever wrote.
With the haunting power of Rebecca, My Cousin Rachel celebrates it’s 65th year since publication in 2016.
